Where best get good customer service at Tenerife shops?
exception below...
Good customer service by Tenerife shops Spain, in general, is something I have good experiences with. The little hardware store down the road where I live will order special products for me if they don't have them in their shop. They tell me to pass by in 4 weeks when they should have received what I ordered if it's a small item. Should I order a specific fridge they would, of course, contact me when it has arrived. Even, my IT shop used to call me by phone to tell me when something I ordered could be collected. I always spoke some Spanish and dominate it even better by now. So what about a person whose Spanish isn't that good? Will he or she be treated with equal customer courtesy?
My friend Guenther always shops in Tenerife South for cigarettes with good customer service. He, always, receives more than good customer treatment at shop Royal Electronic, no.26, an Indian shop, at C.C. San Eugenio Center, Playa de las Americas, Adeje, Tenerife. I joined him, once, on a day trip to Arona photos of which you may see, here. The shop attendance Guenther received was very warm and welcoming, although my friend's Spanish is very basic. The manner in which small Tenerife shops serve a customer is, generally, tops. You may receive an, even, warmer welcome in family run shops. You also get a better service by direct attendance, especially, in times of recession, when it's more economic not to leave control of a shop to a manager.
However, there is a down to earth rule, as far as any shopping service is concerned: Treat the shop owner like Guenter in shop Royal. Be polite and professional yourself and you will receive according good customer service. Never act as if you the customer were king. The shop attendant should treat you the customer as if you were always right but don't forget that there are limits for good customer support. Aunt Emma shop customer service Tenerife: At the small Supermercado Eco Norte supermarket in Toscal where I live a small or growing child receives the same good customer care like I did at little stores called Aunt Emma shops in Germany during my childhood. They, usually, were family run stores. At Econorte young employed mothers take shifts to serve customers. There, a kid his helped with kindness and patience when he or she shops for a parent and, may also receive a free candy at the till. This shop never closes during the day and is also open on Saturdays until 8.p.m. Most small Tenerife shops are proud to cling to this Aunt Emma shop attitude which has become very much part of Tenerife culture. However, during saint and all church holidays, Catholic owners of Tenerife retail outlets also take the liberty to close shop which is custom in predominantly Spanish suburbs. Foreigners have no right to see this as neglect of good customer service but should do their shopping the day before or after. Buy food on holidays like 25th of December The small shop La Huerta in Calle Tinguaro, 61, El Tozcal, Los Realejos is always open. It's also on the border of suburb Romantica 2, close to la Longuera. Therefore, no need to panic, as this shop will even help you with this outstandingly good customer service in North Tenerife on Christmas day. Last time, I went to buy groceries like bread, milk, cheese, fruit and rice at shop La Huerta Tenerife at 3.30 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon was in early December 2008. She shop owner confirmed that her shop is always open except at night. Customer service in larger Tenerife shops:
Tenerife shops Alcampo service: At Al La Villa Alcampo of La Orotava which is a hyper-store you can also bet on good customer service. Alcampo has a separate, very long counter manned by about 4 or 5 people whose only purpose is customer help. One section is for storage of things not allowed in the store, another one is for returns and refunds. A third is for general assistance. They also employ young people on roller skates to reach customers in distress or in any other need of help, speedily. Exchanging faulty goods is easy in Tenerife shops when you have everything required such as original packaging and didn't throw the shopping receipt or guaranty away. Note the night photo of Alcampo...I have this friend who, almost as a rule, enters Alcampo La Villa 20 minutes before doors are closed at 10.p.m. I never saw an unfriendly cashier's face at their tills when she hands in her shopping after that time. Guess, how late she sometimes is while the tired till attendants are, certainly, eager to go home. My friend, really takes advantage of Alcampo good customer service. Ask nicely for shop assistance: It can happen to you in any shop but, especially in larger Tenerife stores, such as Tienda 99, that an employee might not look up when you enter. The moment you call with the magic word "por favor" you will enjoy good customer service where any shop article you want to see or try on will be brought to you. Whatever the problem might be, you will be assisted with passion. This may be when you are shopping in Puerto Cruz (where Alcampo is rather competitive) as well as when you want to buy something anywhere else in Tenerife. Customer support at Mercadona in Tenerife An employee in Los Realejos told me at Mercadona Supermarket that employees who speak languages earn more. If I remember well this effort to improve good customer service is worth 100 Euro extra for Mercadona. This is per language spoken. It is an amazing financial service effort for a big retail chain like Supermercado Mercadona. You get excellent customer service at Mercadona, indeed. Ask a worker at Mercadona where to find a certain product you can't find. He more than often leaves the shelve where he was busy sorting merchandise and goes with you to the other end of the shop to point out the article you want. They would do the same if you showed them a picture of the product you need which could be displayed on a flier, for example. Corte Inglés and customer courtesy :
Make use of the new Santa Cruz Corte Ingles yard in its back. Leave your child there to skate while you shop but, have an older brother, sister or friend look after it. The big Tenerife department store which is very popular on mainland Spain lends its backyard for this sport as a service but, it doesn't guard children outside its stores. Learn more about Corte Ingles and its many customer conveniences and shopping supports. Tourist hubs and customer service. In Puerto de la Cruz most small shops keep their doors open for tourists on week-ends and holidays. Even the larger grocery supermarket shop Mercadona within Piramides Martianez Centro Comercial shopping center serves you on Sundays and holidays. Good Customer service is hardly ever neglected, although, employees might be tired, overworked or even jealous of tourist freedom and leisure time. Even, when you don't see a shop sign or other indication that foreign languages are spoken inside, expect many Tenerife shops in tourist centers to have employees with English and German skills as part of good customer attendance. As a general rule, there will, always, be somebody in a pharmacy to help you in English or German, at least. Don't be disappointed when you don't find such good help in your language in a remote, Spanish village, though. Therefore, learn Spanish... Even the most basic Spanish knowledge helps with Tenerife shops outside tourist hubs. Needless to say is that Tenerife South has more shops where English is spoken for good customer support than Tenerife North where German dominates. Packing and delivery service: All shops I know in Tenerife help packing what you bought and many are prepared to send it to your door for a fee. Once, I bought a big industrial ladder at a Tenerife shop in my neighborhood. A relative of the store owner delivered it to my home, not shy to carry it to the 3rd floor without a lift. Nothing was officially charged for this extra service. Learn about Ikea which also looks after children while you shop, offers kitchen design assistance as well as delivery service and more. What is chronically missing in Spain as well as in Tenerife are online shops. Not even banking on line is used much. The bank employee at my previous bank in Puerto Cruz said to me a year ago: "Oh no, online banking looks far too dangerous to me!" A friend of mine couldn't live without it. Neither could my daughter nor I... In my mind online shopping and online banking are safe when you act wisely. It provides a vital good customer service in today's modern times. Note: Somebody in a social networking site pointed out to me that Hyperdino.com Tenerife is an online service provider with shopping facility for groceries and should be used by all who have a holiday home in Tenerife.
