Tenerife Restaurant Marilu is different from Tenerife restaurants I know.
What is different about Restaurant Marilu in Puerto Cruz? It has one of Tenerife birds which comes visiting, yes a bird, not a pigeon. If you could ask it the bird would tell you this Tenerife Restaurant is cheap, because, it doesn't pay there, at all. So would my friend Guenther who took me there. He told me that Hamburgueseria Cafeteria Marilu which is its official name written outside has very reasonable prices. First time, I had an early dinner there I saw the bird at this unusual Puerto Cruz Restaurant. A full dish is not a must, by the way, because, you can just order a drink without food at Marilu. The restaurant's name reveals this, too. Some people pop into this Puerto de la Cruz Restaurant Marilu after a holiday on beach Playa Jardin to have something small. 'Papas Locas' made with fresh French fries sprinkled with ham, cheese and mayonnaise is such a dish which is very cheap. That's fantastic for foreigners with a holiday home in Tenerife by Puerto Cruz like I who, sometimes, want something to kill off the worst hunger and, eat again later at home.
Marilu tourists and locals can have the usual bistro food like bocadillos, sandwiches and hamburgers, too. But why take that when you get yummy, very fresh, good fish? The bird found this out, too. First, I thought the French fries were what it had in mind when it stole a big entire French potato chip off my plate. Nope, it didn't like French fries. It settled for a large round end-piece of my fish, enough to be held in its beak... It dropped it below the table and, came back for bits to take to its nest.

The customer at Restaurant Marilu who gets free food in Tenerife is a small brownish bird also called Pollo pájaro (pollo bird) in Tenerife or Gorrión Moruno , a sparrow and, is one of many pardales. At least, that's what I was told by one of the waiters of Marilu.
Isn't this an unusual, cheeky, visitor for Tenerife restaurants to start with? Well Cafeteria Marilu's parrot in the cage didn't think so. It just commented to it without much excitement. Perhaps, the parrot is used to the bird popping in like all guests at Marilu do.
Tenerife Island is special and full of surprises isn't it?
I tried so hard to catch this cheeky Pardal Bird on camera. I didn't succeed. Whenever I clicked it disappeared out of Restaurant Marilu. (My digital Konica Revio KD-500Z takes too long when I push the button to take a Camera shot.)
By the way, the fish dish was marked way below EU 10 in the menu card. It was so yummy, fluffy and fresh with a bit of salad beside. Forgive me for having totally missed a decent photo shot of my good looking Tenerife fish at Restaurant Marilu... Blame all the excitement on this feathered repeat visitor of Marilu!
Not only the waiters are very friendly at Restaurant Marilu but, also its owner Pepé whom you see in the photo Pepé of Marilu and I. Well, I was instantly adopted, first, for speaking Spanish and, 2ndly, because, I was with the faithful customer Guenther Dahmen from la Victoria. It makes sense to go back to the eating place Marilu. Its Tenerife cuisine is good and fresh. A large variety of menus of the day with sea food or meat dishes are available without being expensive, at all. The small place is airy, open on 2 sides with lush green plants, palm trees and the ocean just over the road. Marilu Hamburgueseria is open from 7.a.m.to 3.a.m every day. Calle Francisco Alonso Carrillo Puerto de la Cruz Telephone: (0034) 922 37 16 27 Where is Restaurant Marilu? It's almost opposite Castillo San Felipe just below the luxury resort apartment complexes Bahia Playa. It's before you reach the Barranco (gorge) with the long climbing palm and hotel lined Avenue Blas Pérez González beside it.Hamburgueseria Marilu is also below Hotel Turqueza by Playa Jardin. Titsa bus 381 which starts at Avenida Generalisimo and goes past Plaza del Charco, Loro Parque and ends in La Longuera lets you off the bus very close to Restaurant Marilu. Just ask for the stop Bahia Playa or Castillo San Felipe. If you have a little lunch at Marilu's after a morning visit at Loro Park you will sure spend much less for Tenerife food and drink at Restaurant Marilu than you would at the Loros' park. Please, return from Restaurant Marilu to Tenerife restaurants! Disclaimer: Please, don't take restaurant prices for granted. Price changes in gastronomy are normal and depend on many factors. You might even find a menue of the day offered cheaper with a bit of luck. Back to Top of Page?
