Look at all the clever pensioners who come to Tenerife in winter... It saves them having to scrape ice off their windscreens or clear the snow in front of their garages. In peak summer time, Tenerife is also an excellent escape for all those whose countries crack under burning heat or who suffer in hot cities in the north of Europe.

Tenerife holiday let prices:

A rural private holiday villa which sleeps 2 to 6 persons often costs Euros 350 a week for rent in places like La Orotava, Icod de Los Vinos or Los Realejos. Prices for Realejos Tozcal or La Romantica lettings are a little higher. Prices for Tenerife South apartments and villa lets vary and may cost Euros 900 or even more per week depending on location such as beach resorts or near a golf course. However some have beds for up to 8 people.

On rainy days one feels more at home with privately rented holiday accommodation with often more of a personal, 'comfy' touch and extra special appliances. Additional good reasons are given below.

I left it quickly for my own private reasons.

Stay away from large free portals where you have to give your email address. You get all the tourists who want to rent almost for free or you get those that only hunt for Internet directions.And you get bombarded with rental inquiries which make no sense at all.

Recently, I heard about the most peculiar huge candle which was an ornament obstacle in a furnished rented apartment. The wax monster decoration couldn't even be lit.

Charge 2 months or, at least one month rental before arrival would be adequate after having charged an initial deposit. Mind this is only fair, as the tourist would otherwise have to pay hotel bookings in advance.

The safest and fastest way to handle rental bookings for holiday makers in my mind is by paypal.com That way double rental bookings are best avoided. By the time a bank transfer arrives you might have lost a potential renter.

The Tenerife tourism law:

• To protect hotels and other licensed rental establishments for tourists private owners are officially not allowed as Tenerife holiday rental to tourists for less than 181 days or 6 months. The other reason is to protect neighbors in residential areas from tourist noise.

This applies to all provinces of Spain where Tenerife is part of.

• Accommodation for friends and family is always allowed because, you don't charge them rent.
