Must see Corpus Christi Orotava Tenerife events 2018 and 2022

Corpus Christi Orotava doesn't always take place any given time after Trinity Sunday. The town follows its own agenda as close as possible.

Also, celebrations begin already way before that Sunday and last about one month.

The ones for 2019 had started already by the end of May, at Noon. They would end on June 26  at 11.p.m.at night. By the way, you can see more of the latest art made of volcanic sands of 2017 by clicking the photo underneath.

However, the main day of the church procession over floral and sand art will be on Thursday June 27, 2019.
   
Then, even some small bars that are normally closed will be open just for this one day.

Infraoctava Coprus Christi after the Corona Virus Pandemic

Indeed, after a two year miss the flower carpets with the giant sand art rug of the Infraoctava Corpus Christi Orotava were scheduled to be back on June 23, 2022. So was the Romeria of San Isidro Labrador thereafter.  A live performance by the renown Los Sabadeños was set to be on June 20 at 21,30 pm. on Plaza Franchy Alfaro.

Numerous activities play a part. We shall try to give you a good idea about those that are most interesting and popular with tourists. 

Where the famous sand carpet artists come from

The excellent Orotava Municipal Art school exhibition from June 01 to June,30, 2018 is open to the public from 9.00 a.m.-9.00p.m.

Find this art Center at the Casa de Cultura on Plaza de la Constitución. 

Domingo Gónzalez Expósito the school's director is an artist and sculptor himself. He's also the man who's responsible for the Corpus Christi sand carpet. 

New classes for any age will start in September. 
   

Concurso de vinos D O Orotava from 2017 harvests

The yearly wine tasting event will be at a new location again in 2018. It will be Avenida Mercedes Pinto. The time of the venue will be on June 06 from 18.30p.m- 00.30a.m. on Thursday 07 the day of the Corpus Christi procession.

How get entrance tickets? Buy them at the Parque Cultural Doña Chana of La Orotava on June 04 and 05 of 2018. Prices are extremely reasonable for Euro 1-2 for tastings and Euro 2 for a Tapa.

The wines to be valuated with denomination of origin (D O) La Orotava (Valley) are by the following twelve Bodegas i.e.wine producers.

• La Haya,
• La Suertita,
• Los Güines,
• Soagranorte,
• Tafuriaste,
• Tajinaste,
• Valleoro,
• La Araucaria,
• Quinta San Antonio,
• Navío,
• Murcal

There will also be representatives of nine Restaurants of the Orotava municipality.

• How the Corpus Christi sand carpet is created on site during 4 weeks prior to the day of the street procession when all carpets will be trampled and destroyed

• June 2018: Live folk music concert with the Sabadeños on Plaza de Franchy Alvaro to be confirmed
• June 10, 2018 after the 12 noon Mass: Pilgimage Romeria San Isidro Labrador and Santa Maria de la Cabeza, an example of which find with many photos here.

The Orotava Sand art carpet may be the biggest in the Guinnes Book of Records. Larger ones have been made since in the world. 

However, expect the ephemeral one from La Orotava to lead for the category Fine Art for a very long time.
